Founded in 1962, the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) boasts of a knowledge-base that is hard to replicate, thanks to its 180 member galleries in 29 American cities. The ADAA Art Show, marking its 30th edition this year, brings an immense diversity of offerings to collectors. The fair, to be held at the Park Avenue Armory from February 28 through March 4, will feature presentations from 72 of America’s leading art dealers, showcasing art from the 19th century to the present. A highlight of the show is the encouragement it provides to all visitors to talk to the exhibiting gallerists, to get a better, deeper understanding of the art they are interested in. The keynote address by Christiane Fischer, president and chief executive of the specialty art insurer AXA Art Americas Corporation, is drawing extra interest. Using case studies, she will speak about “The Value of ‘Dead’ Art: The Afterlives of Damaged Works.”
